We made it!! After a couple of very long days traveling we are finally getting settled into the guesthouse. It is a totally different world here; very beautiful in the "country" where we are living. Our first night was spent under a mosquito net, with music from a neighborhood party playing most of the night, music and preaching from the church 1/2 block away, roosters crowing, and babies crying from the house about 30 feet away from our bedroom. We were so tired we didn't even care! The Thedes and Sloans are all very gracious and kind. Anna and Eli are both precious and extremely happy to have us here.
We have a queen size bed and a bathroom next door to the bedroom. Both of those things make us extremely happy. We had no idea what to expect.
The guesthouse hasn't been really used since the teams were here last year, so it will take a bit of fixing up. I've been unpacking and Bill has been busy fixing a counter top 3 burner stove for us to use.
We have mango and breadfruit trees in front of our house and many large palm trees. It is considered a rain forest here, so the blessings and difficulties of that situation will be part of our day to day life. The terraced mountains are in the background, which both bring us beauty and rain - when the rest of Haiti might be needing moisture.
we are praising God for our safe trip, and praying that He will use us for His glory while we are here.
